Highs and Lows
So yesterday my friend Jamie and I did a test shoot for our portfolios (her styling book and my photogrpahy). We collected an enormous amount of colorful "stuff." I will say for as much as I like white stuff, I like colorful stuff equally as much. The shots looked really great, and it felt amazing to be working towards a goal (less styling jobs/more photography jobs). The sad part was trying to shoot digitally. I rented a canon 5d, as many photographer friends of mine have claimed that it gets the job done. Well, I'm not sold. It seems as if digital kind of robs the photo of any mood. That's also probably because I don't know what I am doing and I have relied so heavily on the polaroid to create my "mood." I cried for the first time last night thinking about the end of polaroid. I think I have been in a bit of denial about it. I will be very, very sad when it is gone. The happiness that film brings me is beyond words. It's like it takes what I see and coats it with pixie dust. Now I just need andrew to come up with some digital pixie dust to sprinkle on my new photos. I'll keep you posted. I guess I always do, huh.?

It's important to accessorize
I cannot live without Forever 21, because they make it so darn easy to accessorize.

Where you might find me.
Especially on a day like today. I woke up pretty early this morning. Gonna make some coffee and surf the internet . . . what else is new?

Thank You
This has been a good week to be me (and trust me, that isn't always the case). On Wednesday morning I had serious thoughts of abandoning my foodie blog. I just felt like I wasn't putting the same energy into it as before, and I was pretty much, on a whole, hating myself. Then, low and behold, blogger named becoming a foodie as a blog of note, and I got a ton of hits. So I decided that I wouldn't abandon it after all, instead, I would just try to be better about posting and try to once again find my foodie voice.
Then just when I thought all of the excitement was over, I had a little write up for the polaroid blog, here, and here, and here. As you could imagine, I did a lot of jumping up and down, and a lot of "Oh My God! Oh My God!"
Really, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for the lovely comments, for the well wishes when I was sick (both times) and for making me feel appreciated. It's lovely to have all of that come from something that you are doing just for yourself. Because if you remember, these blogs were just something I was doing to honor my New Year's resolution to follow through on my ideas. And so if nothing else, I hope I can inspire you to do the same.
PS. I know this polaroid is a bit cheesy, but it was the only one that I had of myself where I looked thankful.

For the Love of Light
Hi, again. Just a little something I wanted to share with you. The lovely and always inspiring Jen from Nectar and Light invited me to be a part of an amazing project she is working on. It's a tribute to our dear friend the polaroid. We will be publishing a book sometime in July, so now is a good time to go to the site and get on the mailing list. Along with Jen, there are 25 of us contributing photos to the book, Maditi from here, Anne from here, and Mia from here just to name a few. We would love to have your support, so get yourselves on over to the site, pronto!

A Simple Line of Shoes
I certainly never thought that a simple line of shoes would make so many people happy. This is my most popular photo. It just passed 1,000 views on my flickr. I'm just happy I didn't give these guys to goodwill. Andrew often wonders why I keep stuff that I don't use, and now I have some ammunition for that battle. But I digress . . .Soooooo I was thinking about maybe doing a limited edition print of this shot. Would you be interested in that? If so, please either leave your email in the comments or email me directly. There is a link for that at the top of the site. Can't wait to hear what you think.
PS. Oh my God. Thank You! Thank You! How amazing is this?

The Spa
Hooray. I have the day off. I would love to go to the spa. Or better yet, drive back to Palm Springs and go to the spa. For now I will just stare directly into this polaroid and imagine spa bliss. I invite you to do the same.

Heaven on Earth
We were lucky enough to have one glorious day and night at The Parker with our friends Jen and Marc. Heaven on Earth. My only complaint is that it ended. Until next time, I suppose.
The shot in the middle is a house in palm springs. All of the other shots were taken at the Parker.
Thank you Heidi, Keith & Sylvia for my Parker Gift Certificates. They came in very handy.

In The Barn
I'm starting a small prop rental business, so we had a little barn built in back of the house. It is still empty, so I staged a little shoot out there this morning. Quite frankly, it will be heartbreaking to fill it. For now, I will pretend I have my own little photo studio. More to come.

at the beach
I think I am starting to come out of my sickness. Just finished a big job, and today I got to sleep in. Here are a few shots I took while on the job. We shot on Venice Beach. So I guess it's not all bad.

The End of Tulips
I left the lazy tulips on the dining room table for a few days and this is what happens. I can totally sympathize. Please let me feel better tomorrow. I don't want to end up like the tulips.

Mix It Up
Just thought I would mix it up a bit. Something out of my "polaroids i'm not sure I like" file. I figured you might want a break from the white.

White on White
I do love color, don't get me wrong, but if I could only shoot one thing it would be white on white. It is an addiction, and I have no intention of seeking a cure.

Lazy Tulips
Clearly this flu/cold does not want to go away. I thought I was better, but now it has morphed into an awful sore throat. The kind that makes you dread swallowing, and when you finally swallow, because if you don't you will choke on the saliva that has accumulated in your mouth, you remember why you dreaded it so much. No fun. No fun at all. I feel worse than these tulips look. I am much sulkier.

he and she
I think my "finally," may have been a bit premature. I am still a bit sick, but I managed to have a wonderful weekend. My parents came in town to visit and help celebrate my brother's 30th birthday, and on Sunday, my brother and I dragged my poor Dad to the swap meet for several hours. I bought these cute dolls there, and took a bunch of polaroids. You can see them all here. I can't think of good names for them, so if you have any ideas, please let me know. Just not sure that "he" and "she" will stick.
