Inspiration

Wow. This has been so much worse than I could have ever imagined. I just can't seem to get back into the swing of things. I decided to force myself to try today (since up until this point I have been on the couch wallowing in it and watching a lot . . . i mean A LOT of tv). So I dragged myself out to the old prop barn (you know, the one that should have been finished over a month ago) and tried to make sense of it. That proved to be a bit too difficult so I did something a little more fun. I worked on my inspiration board. It's a big one. I had Andrew put cork on both of the barn doors. I only have a portion of one of the doors done, but I can tell it is already helping. These inspiration boards really do work. I had my first creative idea in over a week. It had been so long in fact that it was hard to find my little "creative ideas" notebook. I found it and scribbled away. I'll keep you posted on my progress. I really hope the fog is finally lifting, so I can get back to blogging and taking photos. Fingers crossed.

Why rush it? A paris fog is better than a rain fog or seasonal affectiveness disorder. I say dwell in it awhile, find really good coffee everywhere you go and buy a nice pitcher for your red wine. Dream of when you'll go back.

love your board, Jen...You've given me an idea. I think I'll take some of my magazine collages and combine them onto one of my vision boards!

See, you've been an 'inspiration' to me!

Thanks!

Jean

hi, found your blog randomly surfing this morning.

sigh... the highs and lows of creativity (more notably, the lows) coupled with what I call "Post Travel Lulls" or "heart lag" are not fun combinations.

cheers to battling thru it.

Your photos are outstanding and mesmerizing.

Inspiration can be illusive sometimes. Taking a break on occasion, can be quite helpful.
Good luck!

do not rush or force yourself. Just enjoy your ebbing because you'll be flowing again before you know it. I keep this quote posted to remind myself to "take my time and allow inspiration to lead."

all the best to you...

When I came back from my first trip to Hawaii, it took 2 weeks for me to snap out of it completely...felt like that reliably sharp creative edge had taken on a dreamy, misty contour. I think sometimes you pick up so much inspiration from a place & heightened experiences, it takes a while for your brain to sift through it all & find its pace.

what a beautiful inspiration board! I am still trying to convince my husband that I simply must convert our breakfast nook into an inspiration/art station.
