a question

oh, and first a comment. my comment . . . thank you. thanks a lot for all or your kind words (and unkind - those were deleted . . . i mean c'mon. my cat just died.).

the question.

so kitty died in our bedroom and now i do not want to sleep there. i am no stranger to sleeping on the couch. you see, that's where the t.v. is and i LOVE to fall asleep with the t.v. well last night andrew and i got all of our covers and our pillows and camped out in the living room. we ate cookies and candy and watched movies. apparently andrew hates sleeping on the couch and upon waking this morning proclaimed, "we are not sleeping out here again." my response, a curt, "well i am. i'm sleeping out here forever. i'm not going back in there." obviously that won't be possible. although i know i could make it out here for at least a month. instead i thought, "hey, we could paint the bedroom." and alas, the question. any suggestions on color. i've had a lt. aqua and lt. pink . . . andrew suggested red (NO). i want something soothing and also AWESOME. can you help?

A buttery yellow.

It seems like the perfect color for any room, but especially a bedroom.

i know how you feel :( when i found my hamster dead back in elementary school i could wear the outfit i had on again.

as for the color, my walls are blue gray and it goes with a lot, but also sage is always a good color to choose :)

ohh - paint! I love it. I just did a Slate Teal by Benjamin moore and it's AMAZING (so is their Polo Blue which I have in my bedroom if you are into darker colors). Sunflower Fields (also by BMoore) is also really beautiful and soothing as is Marina Gray.

cappuccino/coffee with milk/ caramel
milky pink... but then again, I can't imagine a guy who would like to sleep in a pink bedroom (especially a guy who would happily paint his bedroom red!)
and, well, I know it's boring, but vanilla always looks great

i am so sorry about your cat. that is just awful;( i hope you heal quickly. painting is a great idea to make your room feel new . i always have a very deep eggplant color on my bedroom walls. it might sound drab but it looks great with green accents. good luck!

i'm very sorry about kitty and hope she is purring in a field of catnip. cats love that stuff. what about a pale gray and white? it always looks sophisticated and fresh, but it has to be the right gray. bright if that makes sense. maybe, you could also flip the mattress over or get a new one? i would feel funny sleeping there too, but you and andrew should be together.

i love gray blue walls and i also love a buttery sand color. that's been my favorite lately.

i'm sorry about your kitty and totally get it about sleeping elsewhere. paint will help.

oh no, bye bye kitty. i'm most sorry to hear about him/her. maybe a light brown, woody colour? and anything pale really. like a very pale yellow, with hints of rose. have fun dearest. xo

i'm putting my vote in for orange. not an obnoxious orange, but that perfect shade that both soothes and energizes. yay orange! :)

I'm always partial to grey. You could go light and add a slight tint of pink or teal.

If my puppy died in my bedroom, we'd have to move so don't let mean people bring you down!

Seriously, people left you unkind comments? Screw them. I vote aqua (like the color of Carrie Bradshaw's remodeled apartment in the Sex and the City movie) is that too trendy? I just love it.

Vvagabond said...

I have to agree- Screw them ;) Anyone who takes the time to say something mean about something so sad has got some issues. As for the color, a pale pale yellow would be really soothing and cheery...you can even mix it up- one yellow wall and the others a very light, soothing and creamy grey. Something to melt away the nerves~ feel better!

Adding my voice to the chorus of sorry for the loss of your awesome/obnoxious kitty. (Also, seriously, what kind of person -- total strangers, no less -- goes out of their way to say something unkind after a heartfelt post about the loss of a beloved animal???)

Since you said your kitty loved ice cream and mint...what about a minty ice cream-y green? Something to remind you, in a happy way, about the kitty's life. Also, lots of colors go really well with minty green.

i'm so sorry about your kitty! my kitty died recently and it's just heartbreaking. they are such little buddies and you go through so much with them and then they are gone. stay strong!

maybe you should wallpaper one wall in a crazy happy pattern! there are some pretty fantastic wallpapers out there...

Tones of olive or lime green are massively in fashion at the moment - its always been one of my personal favourites...

TEAL! You can downplay it with grays, or you can even incorporate *red* furniture pieces to please Andrew.

I guess I'm very partial to it since red & teal are my wedding colors, but I really think you can do SO much with teal!

I am so sorry about your kitty. It is so hard to deal with the loss of a pet. My border collie I had for 16 years died four years ago and I cried for weeks, still do when I see a border collie. I feel for you as you cope. So sad!

It would probably help you feel much better about the bedroom if you give it a new look. I vote for a nice yellow or orange as others have said.

'Sea Mist' by Benjamine Moore. It's a lovely pale green which would go great with your white bedding.
