Finally!

I am starting to feel better. I was even able to take some photos yesterday. I was starting to get a bit nervous. Thought I might not ever take another one. I guess it is just hard to be inspired when you are sick.

really?

yes, really. i am still sick. definitely better than before, but not as "better" as i would like to be. i never realized how much the flu can impair your creativity. plus, now that polaroid film is so precious, i don't want to waste it. i plan to wake up feeling great tomorrow. please, please let me wake up and feel great tomorrow. here is a shot i took before my creative juices stopped flowing. thought it would be cool in a kitchen or dining room. little ghosts.

diptych of the day

Seeing as I am still feeling quite sick, I have decided to tele-transport myself to a happier time and place. Las Vegas, 2004 and the now defunct Stardust hotel and casino.
Aaahhhh, yes. I feel better now.

More of my diptychs here.

The flu

I was blind sided last week by the flu. No fun. I didn't want you to think I had disappeared altogether. I'm just laying low and letting this thing pass. Think of all the polaroid I've saved over the last few days.

How I Feel

This is how I feel today. Heading into 3 days of shooting, so you probably won't hear much from me. On top of that I am either getting sick or have been poisoned by toxic spray paint. Either way I feel awful, but must carry on.

camelias

the camelias are in bloom! the camelias are in bloom! hip hip hooray. so, i did what any girl in her right mind would do, i plucked them all of the bush outside of our house and took some photos.

Lost Deer

Spent a bunch of time this weekend buying things I absolutely, positively did not need, like bottle brush christmas trees and small plastic reindeer. At least I had fun, right?

my mantle

i'm reminiscing about how my mantle used to look. currently my house looks like a bomb went off, or a tornado came through, or one of those things. I tend to get messy when i'm taking photos. someday i'll have my mantle back, and i'll be able to see my living room floor. someday.

i had this one in my box of rejects, but got desperate for photos to scan, so i did. my flickr friends seemed to really like it, so i am sharing it with you.

planet earth

i bought the dvd series planet earth quite a while ago with the full intention of watching every last one and thus becoming a much smarter person. this did not happen, but yesterday i got the idea to take photos of some of the images. there must be a law that i am breaking. polaroid criminal. awesome.

What do you think?

I did a little photo test this weekend. Tried to add some different emotions into my images. I figured whiskey always helps with emotion, right?

sunday morning

in spite of the fact that polaroid is shutting down (don't worry, i have a lot of film), i still think today is going to be a good day. this shot captures my mood.

white rose

the rain we had destroyed all of our roses. thankfully i have this polaroid to remind me how lovely they were.

i'd rather be here

bondi beach
in the sun
relaxing
instead i am preparing to sit on the 5 freeway for several hours, and i assure you, that does not make for a beautiful polaroid.

curtains

probably one of my favorite things to shoot. the diffused light is just what the polaroid needs.

Andrew and Lamb

Andrew cooked rack of lamb for me the other night. It was delicious. Read all about it here. He thought my story made him sound dumb (because of the "leathery meat" comment). I thought it made him sound sweet. For the record, he is the best husband a girl could ask for and the smartest person I know. He is one of those "knowledge retainers." He learns something once, and never has to relearn it. I, on the other hand, have a brain like a sieve. I have to keep pouring the same information into it day after day, and just hope eventually it will stick.
