Portraits of Peonies

This is the happiest time of year for me . . . for it's the time of the year when you can buy peonies at Trader Joe's for like a buck a piece. So I indulged myself and bought a dozen. Unfortunately their lifespan was quite short, lasting just a week (I think that's the same life span of a butterfly). I snapped these portraits the day before they died. They had already lost their fuschia-ness, but they were still quite lovely.

I love flowers the best right before they are going to die and even when they are dead, so I love it when you capture them like this:)

My mom always grows peonies... I miss how their perfume clouded the air all around them.
